Escape from the city and into the wild, starting from the lakeshore passing by Biljana’s springs where you will hear the legend how was the Ohrid lake created and the hydrobiological institute where we will see Ohrid’s most recognizable fish in captivity for reproducing, the endemic trout or in Latin “Salmo letnica”. These fish can be found only in two lakes in the world and the other lake is Baikal Lake in Russia. From there we start the climb of the day, 6 km and 700 m elevation hiking until we reach the top the Letnica spring.
The reward, a breathtaking view towards the city of Ohrid and its islands, Samuels’s fortress and the white lake. Heading down in a tall Beech forest by a different trail that follows the spring itself, reaching the village Ramne where we have our picnic lunch on JJ’s ranch “Dolga niva”. After lunch, we tie up our shoes again and descend down to the starting point finishing the adventure for the day. The name Lentica of the fish and the spring is not a coincidence, to hear the story behind it you’ll need to be among us and collect the moments.
